Application By PortfolioIf you have been told that your degree is not included in the list of approved degrees, but you believe that your education is equal to, or better than, what you might receive in one of those programs, you may present your case to the Board. Each applicant is reviewed individually on a case by case basis. The administrator does not have the authority to approve an application with education that is not in the regulations, however, the Board can do so. The first step is to fill out the LSAA or LADAC application and submit it. In accordance with the rules and regulations, an application must be on file prior to the Board review. Once you receive a denial letter, the next step is to contact the Board Office/Administrator and ask to be placed on the Board agenda. Begin immediately to prepare your "case". Your documents are considered "evidence" or "exhibits". All the documents must be submitted in advance (45 days is recommended) so that copies can be furnished to all the Board members. When the date arrives, you attend the Board meeting as a guest. You will present your "testimony" along with your "exhibits" (written material) for consideration by the Board. You most likely not receive an immediate answer. The Board reviews these matters in executive session, then will reconvene in a public setting after decisions are made. No applicant or licensee information will be discussed in the public meeting for confidentiality reasons. If you are not able to stay until after the executive session, then you can wait until you receive the decision in writing. This usually happens within a week. If more information or documentation is needed by the Board, then you will be informed about this either at the meeting, or by mail. |
