R-4 Community Acupuncture and Acudetox: Two Prototypes for including so-called alternative medicine in public health settings. It is important to include hands on, millennium proven, softer, less invasive, wholistic techniques that affect body, mind, and spirit all at the same time in school and public health clinics. The results for suicide prevention, alleviating effects of trauma, general well-being could be astounding. In this time of diseases not easily diagnosed or understood, allergies, environmental and chemical sensitivity, alarming use of addictive substances, allopathic medicine may not be the only or best treatment. There is a new movement to provide community acupuncture, group style, inexpensive treatment in Silver City. Auricular (ear) acudetox is being taught to substance abuse workers to be included in the services they offer.
We will leave you with two questions: should alternative, integrative or complementary medicine be included in the public health care system? How can it be included in the public health system?
Due to some last minute cancellations, the Friday schedule will change. More workshops will be scheduled and repeated on Friday.
F-1 See Wednesday for detailed description
F-2Ethics In this course we will examine ethical standards as they pertain to the prevention professional, and we will compare and contrast them with counseling ethics.
