Mentoring

The relationship that occurs between a seasoned professional and a person in need of development.

New Mexico Addiction Education Network provides mentoring for professionals attempting to enter the addiction profession in New Mexico.   Among our membership are preventionists and clinicians of all kinds of specialties.

The field of addiction services has a long tradition of "on the job" training.  Treatment for substance use disorders is more of an art that is "caught" than a science which is "taught". After learning science based methods, watching a skilled individual, and honing one's skills with mentorship is one of the best ways to become proficient with new skills.

  •  Are you in an isolated area with few resources?
  •  Do you find yourself in an employment or internship situation where you would like to have more supervision or connection with seasoned practitioners?
  •  Are you trying to get into the field in New Mexico and finding yourself frustrated?

Members of NMAEN will assist you if possible.
