Empty Fire:
p Empty FireIn Chinese medicine, the dis-ease of addiction is diagnosed as “empty fire.” Lack of nourishment (yin) of body, mind and spirit leads to a lack of inner calm. Then unbridled energy (yang) rises unmediated by yin. Then irritability and aggressiveness (fire) can burn out of control eating up even more yin. This syndrome is “empty fire.” To most of us, including the addict, it seems like common sense to sedate or control these symptoms. Auricular acupuncture detoxification (NADA 5 needle technique) restores balance by nourishing yin, the calm, centered, interior, deep, fluid, cool, soft part of ourselves. That creates balance with the more energetic, constantly moving, warm, active part of ourselves.
