Caterina Di Palma became a Doctor of Oriental Medicine in 1998. She is knowledgeable and experienced in the practice Oriental Medicine, including acupuncture, massage, herbs and auricular treatment for substance abuse in New Mexico. Caterina Di Palma was instrumental in lobbying for and creating the legislation that made it possible to teach auricular detoxification to substance abuse workers, and have persons who are not Doctors of Oriental Medicine, such as LADAC's, LSAA's, and para-professionals to do treatment in their programs. She is intimately acquainted with the laws and rules, and regulations governing the practice of Auricular Acupuncture Detoxification in New Mexico. Dr. Di Palma has promoted the use of the acu-detox technique in substance abuse programs in NM since the early 1990’s. Since 1997, she has demonstrated the protocol, taught and provided information about auricular detoxification. She became a NADA certified Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist in 2003. She participated in a Training of Trainers workshop at the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association Annual Training and Conference from April 23rd through the 29th , 2006. Since September 2005, Dr. Di Palma has presented and demonstrated at the DWI Coordinators Affiliate Symposium, Southwest Regional Substance Abuse Collaborative Region 5, and Southwest Regional Behavioral Health Conference where she had an exhibit table and provided three in-service type demonstrations and presentations.
